Acrylic Nail Removal Hacks

Remove Acrylic Nails Safely and Easily

Tools You'll Need

  • Nail file with two grits (100/80 grit if possible)
  • Nail buffer
  • Acetone (not just regular polish remover)
  • Orangewood stick

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Buff the Surface

Start by gently buffing the surface of your acrylic nails with the coarse grit (100) of your nail file. This will help the acetone penetrate better.

2. Break Down the Length

Use the nail file to break down the length of your acrylic nails. Be careful not to cut into your natural nails.

3. Soak in Acetone

Saturate cotton balls with pure acetone and place them on top of your acrylic nails. Wrap your fingers in tin foil or nail clips to secure the cotton balls. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes.

4. Gently Push Off Acrylics

Once the acrylics have softened, use an orangewood stick to gently push them off your nails. Do not use force, as this could damage your natural nails.

5. Buff and Moisturize

After removing the acrylics, smooth out any rough edges with a nail buffer. Finish by moisturizing your nails and cuticles to restore their health.

Tips

* Use a nail cutter specifically designed for acrylic nails to avoid clipping your natural nails. * If you don't have tin foil or nail clips, you can use a large bowl or sink filled with acetone to soak your nails. * Be patient and allow the acetone to fully penetrate the acrylics before attempting to remove them. * If your acrylic nails are particularly thick or have been on for a long time, you may need to repeat the process.
